Vaccine is a best way to protect people against influenza. Split vaccines (called HA vaccines in Japan) used in Japan are less immunogenic than inactivated whole virus particle vaccines. We conduct research and development of whole influenza virus vaccine to improve the immunogenicity of seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines. Recently, dengue fever is a growing threat due to the climate change in Japan. We also conduct research and development of vaccines and drugs for dengue and other infectious diseases.
