Dr. Matsuno who is an associate professor in our institute received the 2025 Hokkaido Science and Technology Encouragement Award.

The Hokkaido Government presents the Hokkaido Science and Technology Award as a governor's commendation to those who have made outstanding inventions and research in science and technology, and have made achievements in promoting economic and social development, such as promoting Hokkaido's industry and improving the lives of Hokkaido residents. Dr. Matsuno received the 2025 Hokkaido Science and Technology Encouragement Award for contributing to the improvement of public health in Hokkaido through research on emerging viral infectious diseases, including the discovery of Yezo virus infection and the analysis of SARS-CoV-2 variants.
