I am developing a method to diagnose pathogen affordably and comprehensively using next-generation sequencers （link）. If the methods we are developing are used in the real world, we will be able to monitor a wider variety of pathogens in near real time than ever before, and may be able to quickly identify the next pathogen after SARS-CoV-2.

My research interests include African trypanosomes, Theileria, and Rickettsia etc.. My main field is Zambia, where I conduct epidemiological surveys of protozoa diseases and develop on-site rapid diagnostic systems. I love living things, from small protozoa to African wildlife!

The Toxoplasma parasite, which makes a latent infection, establishes infection in the host's brain and muscle for a long time, but is the parasite quietly sleeping, or is it hiding to continue deceiving the host?
I would like to find out by using the technology to analyze the gene expression of the parasite and the host at the single-cell level.
